My Computer Armoire Mistreatment- What do you think?? Seriously.

Back in March, I got a new computer armoire to replace the desk we had been using. The armoire fits great in our new living room, as I've mentioned before. I moved all of our office supplies into the shelf area in the top of the armoire that was originally designed to showcase something pretty. But it's valuable storage, placed perfectly for all of the non-homeschool office supplies and notecards. So I had to use it for function, not style. Good "fyle/stunction", you know. :)

Here it is, in all it's "glory"...

And if you must see all of my junk, here is my whole office nook in it's pure, unaltered state this afternoon. Begin feeling better about yourself and your junk... :)

Eventually, I want to purchase the matching filing cabinet to tuck into the corner to hide the rest of my paperwork and make the area look more presentable...but this is what it looks like for now. :)

So last week, when we were at Jo-Ann getting some fabric and trim for other mistreatment projects, I found this fabric on the clearance rack and bought a piece to hide my office supplies.

As soon as we were finished with school today, I went right to the task of trying to mistreat the top of the computer armoire. (The first two weeks of school have really thrown me off-track this year. Although school, itself, is going great.)

Through a series of events that involved ironing, cutting, hot gluing, safety-pinning, attempting to use upholstery tacks and a spring rod, this is what I came up with...

(Sorry for the dark, fuzzy picture.) So what do you think? Most of the time, I think I like it. But then sometimes, I'm not sure. Maybe it's the fact that my brain is zapped from school this week, or the weather, or maybe it just isn't that great, I don't know?? Is it decent, or should I just peel it out (I hot-glued it in there!) and just start over?

After pondering it, a bit, I noticed that the "pleats" I put in there match the pleats on the furniture in the living room, which ties in nicely.

Here's a picture with the flash, so you can see the color/pattern...

Would you leave it or rip it out?? I'm undecided...and it's late. :)

I should have just looked at the pictures and not read the words... because now I'm torn too!!! Ahhh! And it's not even *my* armoire:o).

I think it looks great! :)

If nothing else, you can just leave it up for a week or so, and then see how you feel about it.

Thanks for your sweet comments, girls! I think I like it now. But if I change my mind, like Rachel said, I can rip it out at that point. :)

I say - Keep it!

You are so brave to show the messy desk. :) Desks are paper and cltter magnets.

Love the pleats!
